Objectives: To evaluated whether acupuncture at Neiguan point(P6)could improve the vagal modulation by using heart rate variability analysis. Methods: Thirty two P6 acupuncture group and thirty one No-treatment group were included in this study. We compared P6 acupuncture group and No-treatment group on hemodynamics and heart rate variability(HRV)measures. We further compared HRV and Hemodynamics after acupuncture at P6. The sampling frequency for ECG recording was 200 Hz. The normalized high-frequency power(nHFP=HFP/TP)was used as the index of vagal modulation: the normalized low-frequency power(nLFP=LFP/TP)as the index of sympathetic and vagal modulation. Results: We found that the systolic blood pressure(SBP)of P6 acupuncture group after acupuncture at P6 was significantly lower than that of No-treatment group. The heart rate(HR)of P6 acupuncture group after acupuncture at P6 was significantly decreased, in contrast, the mean RR intervals(mean RRI), the standard deviation and coefficient of variation of RR intervals(SDRR, CVRR)were all significantly increased. After acupuncture at P6, the nHFP increased significantly from 27.1±13.2 normalized unit(nu)before acupuncture at P6 to 37.6±14.1 nu after acupuncture at P6. After acupuncture at P6, the SBP decreased significantly from 124.9±14.0 mmHg before acupuncture at P6 to 116.0±11.2 mmHg after acupuncture at P6. Conclusion: We concluded that acupuncture at Neiguan point can increase the vagal modulation and decrease the SBP of the healthy subjects. It might be beneficial of the cardiovascular system. |
