The purpose of this study was to understand the preventive behaviors of dengue fever and the related factors for heads of communities & neighborhoods of Zhunan Township. These samples include 247 heads of communities and neighborhoods at Zhunan Township in Miaoli County, Taiwan. Using a random sampling method, heads of communities and neighborhoods completed questionnaires including demographics, the preventive behaviors of dengue fever, health beliefs, and self-efficiency in preventing dengue fever. The main results were as follows: The objects showed no significant correlations among knowledge, the health beliefs in prevention, self-efficiency, and the preventive behaviors of dengue fever. The objects’ health beliefs were shown to have significant negative correlation with their self-efficiency, but the self- efficiency had significantly positive orrelation with preventive behaviors. Heads of communities & neighborhoods were the best preventive behaviors than those expressed by external acting cues from newspapers, magazines and radio stations. External acting cues from newspapers, magazines and radio stations on dengue fever, and self-efficiency were able to explain 40.1% towards the preventive behaviors of dengue fever. Among these factors, the self efficiency of preventing dengue fever had the most impact to predicting the preventive behaviors of dengue fever. |
