The purpose of this research was to examine the correlation between factors related to alcoholism at the Atayal tribes in the Wulai County of Taipei. The tools used in this study for screening alcohol addiction, was developed by Hu Hei-Kuo. And, a random sample of 300 adults aged 20~70 from the Atayal tribes in Wulai were screened. Total of 300 people were selected for family visit and framed questionnaire. And, 265 copies (88.34% recovering rate) were collected back. The research result showed the rate of alcohol addiction was 30.6%. We found that addiction is in related to gender, village status, and education level. In addition, social demographic variables might be used to forecast alcohol addiction behavior. The main predictors were gender and education level. Male gender with education level of junior high school or under has the high likelihood of alcohol addiction. The result from this study can help us to understand the cause of alcohol addiction and to design educational program for interference. |
