The aim of this study is to explore the effectiveness of weight control on overweight people through web-based hygiene education.The research objects were recruited from regular health checkup program whose body mass index (BMI) were over 24 and were divided into study group and control group. Both groups received health checkup (including height, weight, total cholesterol, triglyceride, AC glucose and uric acid). Before and after intervention Questionnaire surveys of knowledge, attitudes and behavior regarding obesity were also carried out simultaneously. Result summary: 1. After the induction of web-based weight control hygiene education, people in the study group received higher scores of knowledge, attitudes and behavior about obesity than those in the control group. However, the results were all failed to reach the statistical significant level. Therefore, the induction of web-based weight control hygiene education had no effect upon one’s knowledge, attitudes and behavior of obesity. 2. After the induction of web-based weight control hygiene education, lower BMI was observed significantly in the study group than in the control group. The data demonstrate the induction of web-based weight control hygiene education had effect upon one’s BMI. 3. After the induction of web-based weight control hygiene education, lower values of AC glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride and uric acid were noticed among people in study group as compared with the control group. However, only total cholesterol and male triglyceride data showed statistical significance. |
