Congenital infections of newborn are confined to the TORCH only. Congenital cytomegalovirus infection in newborn is not so rare as it has been. It is hardly been described of the newborn had symptomatic signs as need to be treated. The patient happens to be a sister of twin, admitted with the chief complain of prolonged jaundice at the age of 2 months old. She was found to have elevated total bilirubin and directed bilirubin, and -fetoprotein. She received the ganciclovir and improved thereafter. As the congenital cytomegalovirus infection of newborn is usually been neglected, it is necessary to take a look at the disease, and the used of ganciclovir in newborn is also review. |
