This case study mainly analyzed the core management competencies for top managers and middle managers in the Hsiuping University of Science and Technology. The faculty and staff as sample were surveyed their opinion about top and middle managers’ core management competence. The opinion included the importance and implementation toward the core management competence of top and middle managers. Importance-performance analysis was used to identify the advantage of core management competence as well as analysis the gaps between importance and implementation in core management competence were the main purpose. This finding indicated that top managers’ advantage core competence was cross border coordination; on the other hand, the gap of core competence included strategic analysis, team motivation and leadership. Furthermore, the middle managers’ advantage of core competence included knowledge management and its application, process and time management; the gap of core competence included direction and experience sharing, as well as goal setting and implementation. |
