In order to ensure teaching quality and improve teaching skills, a continuous learning program for instructors are almost mandatory. These teaching programs are in particularly meaningful for medical teaching system at outpatients clinics where face to fact teaching model are prevail. This study was designed to investigate the effect of 8-hour 'instructors learning course' (December 2004) on teaching improvement skills implemented at outpatient clinics. Questionnaire answered by medical interns were collected before (November 2004) and twice (December 2004 and April 2005) after this instructors learning course at one medical center at central Taiwan. We found that both domains of teaching skills and medical ethics improved significantly at second post intervention, but not first post intervention. Medical interns gave higher score at domain of instructors' teaching attitude, in particularly at 'express clinical experience clearly'. In addition, medical interns felt significant improvement in the domain of instructors' teaching style, especially at 'medical interns asked medical history before instructors and interns examined patient simultaneously'. Our results indicated that 'instructors learning course' provide an effective measure to improve teaching skills and fulfill the need of medical interns. |
