The purpose of this study is to analyze the basic concept of the patient safety. The effects of patient safety include the environmental factors and individual factors which will be explored to promote high quality, better safety, and reduce the risk of Medical Disputes during hospitalization. Structured questionnaire is designed to measure the concepts and cognitions of patient safety. 414 respondents will be recruited to participate this study. 82.8% of the participants completed the test. The statistical methods used include t-test, ANOVA, and factor analysis. Results: majority of participants expect the healthcare system to establish a safe environment for the patients. The participants believe that most of the medical mistakes are caused by human error. Hospital-acquired infection should not be allowed to occur. In addition, the results of factor analysis on cognition of patient safety include three major factors, namely, medication safety, invasive procedure safety and individual factors. The results of this research can be used as a reference for an organization to develop a culture of safety and the implementation of best practices. |
