Most of the interns of medical schools from middle Taiwan apply to TCVGH as the training hospital for their internship based on the recommendation of their senior schoolmates. The entire satisfaction by these interns is lower than that by interns from medical schools in other areas in Taiwan. With regards to learning and living, there is no significant difference between first-year interns and second-year interns, although first-year interns overall mean score in satisfaction is better than second-year interns. Where as, the satisfaction of living in second-year interns is more satisfied than first-year interns. On the other hand, our study shows that the satisfaction in teaching schedule, contents of training programs, and communication in surgical teaching system has to be further enhanced. Most interns responded about too much paper work and work loading, too long on-duty hours, but not enough teaching in their internship training. This is consistent with the findings about interns of Taiwan University Hospital. Furthermore, interns preferred to have nice attending doctors to be the tutor and offer more opportunities to discussion. It is the best way to response questions arisen from clinical training and their adoption into the environment. Overall, the study reveals that the satisfaction of working, learning, and living for interns in TCVGH ranged from moderate satisfaction to satisfaction. |
