ESRD patients depend on the hemodialysis machine to live. Most individuals experience a decreased capacity with emotional fluctuations, including anger. Violence is a behavior intended to attack or injure someone and always occurs with angry outbursts. Caring for patients prone to outbursts is frustrating for the dialysis staff. In this article, we address the precipitating factors towards anger and a strategy to prevent angry outbursts and intermittent patient violence. |
