Skeleton traction is often used in lower limb bone fracture to relieve pain and improve fracture reduction. Inappropriate traction care may cause substantial morbidity, such as pressure sores and the delay of rehabilitation. Therefore, we established a project team to enhance the accuracy of the traction care. The analysis of current situation revealed that the perception rate and the accuracy rate of skeletal traction care were 65.31% and 71.7%, respectively. The Improvement measures include: organizing in-service education programs, providing reference manuals of bone traction skills and fracture management and checklists of traction care. The perception rate and the accuracy rate of traction care nurses has been significantly improved to be 95.87% and 96.7%, respectively. This project could be helpful to improve traction care, the accuracy of care procedure, the comfort and function of the traction patient. |
