英文摘要 |
This article reports a pen-operative nursing experience of caring for a surgical patient with prostatic hyperplasia. The patient underwent the removal of the prostate gland via the urethral tract. During the nursing period, the author completed an integral assessment in physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects, respectively. Data were collected through patient observation and interview. The identified four major nursing problems were (1) anxiety secondary to surgery, (2) a high risk for surgical injuries, (3) a high risk for altered body temperature during surgery, and (4) lack of knowledge during post-operative care. Through active caring and listening with empathy, the patient was provided with knowledge of the surgical procedure. The patient's concerns about physical and psychological needs were clarified. We hope that this report can be used as a reference for nurses taking care of surgical patients undergoing removal of the prostate gland. |
