This article reports the nursing experience for a female victim who suffered from long-term marital violence. A nursing assessment was conducted through active listening, observation, and interview. Collected data included the patient's physiological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects. Three main health problems were identified: acute pain, fear, and ineffective coping ability. For patient security, the patient was provided with a safe and private environment. With empathy and actively listening, the patient was encouraged to express all internal feelings. In addition, the patient was referred to the Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Center. The patient was provided with marital violence related information and social support. With the nursing interventions, the patient’s suffering and fear lessened. The patient was able to find effective coping strategies to the problems, further rebuilding the focus and goals of life. |
