降低配膳室電器設備意外事件發生之改善

Improving Safety with Electric Appliances in a Utility Room

醫院除提供健康外，也應是一個安全的場所。某病房護理長在2003年1月至10月收到病患口頭抱怨及院長信箱書面投訴，在使用配膳室之食物電熱保溫箱、製冰機、100℃開水機，曾發生燙傷、地板溼滑及不當使用等16件意外事件。為顧慮住院病患的安全性，故引發改善動機。經調查發現配膳室使用說明標示不清楚、環境認養制度不全、入院環境介紹未做配膳室的安全事項說明，為改善上述問題本專案採用的解決辦法有增設加溫定時器及醒目警語的標示、提供防熱護套，預防燙傷；更換較小的取冰杓，避免地面濕滑；藉由提供電器設備使用和安全管理須知書面指引，加強病患家屬使用配膳室之安全概念；落實護理人員執行入院環境介紹、加強查核。經改善後，配膳室使用意外事件，降至0件，期望在病患住院時除提供專業的醫療外，亦能營造便利又安全的住院環境。The safety of using electrical appliance in utility room has aroused much concern. From January to October of 2003, 16 cases of accidental events involving food heater, ice-maker and water boiler were reported. Detailed investigations revealed improper instruction, and inadequate maintenance were responsible. A series of measures including installment of anti-scald devices, providing manufacturer's instruction manual, and avoiding overloading which may create a fire hazard, were then taken. Besides, the importance of education program to patients and nurses could not be overemphasize. Accordingly, the injury events were decreased to zero level and the patients’ safety was insured.
