The purpose of this study was to understand the nurses' attitude, satisfaction, and their related factors while using the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) in nursing practice. 375 nurses were approached through a structured questionnaire which was divided into three sections: demography, attitude and satisfaction. The attitude and satisfaction sections were measured using the Likert 5 point scale .The questionnaires were evaluated by six experts in related fields. The content validity was 4.5 on the 5 point Likert scale, and the Cronbach's alpha was 0.93. Data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean value, standard error, t-test, ANOVA, and Spearman's correlation. The results show: (1). The nurses' attitude toward using PDA was 3.15 ±0.91. Nurses working in the ICU, aged>31, and with experience in using digital equipment had higher rate of acceptance (p < .05 ) . (2). The PDA satisfaction rate on the Likert 5 point scale was 3 .20 ± 0.87. Nurses working in the ICU, and with experience in using digital equipment had a higher accepance rate( p < .05 ). (3). Nurses' acceptance and Satisfaction rates strongly correlated when using the PDA system ( r = .677, P < .05) . According to the results: It is necessary that nurses receive previous digital equipment training before using the PDA system, and more complicated documentation requirements ought to be given first priority in using the PDA system. |
