This article is based on Becker's health belief model to assess non-compliance risk factors in a Type I DM patient. It shows that the risk factors include insufficient information, lack of learning motivation, false health beliefs and lack of interaction among health professionals. The nursing intervention include: 1) to educate on health and medical knowledge; 2) to facilitate relationship between parents and children to engender learning motives; 3) to help the patient to keep pace with knowledge regarding the threatening disease; 4) to mobilize resources from health professionals to encourage the patient to self monitor the blood sugar, to improve compliance and do the self care on one's own. This article aims to offer our experience in caring Type I DM patient. |
