This report concerns the perioperative nursing experience of malunion retreatment after casting of a left ankle closed fracture of a young student injured in a traffi c accident. By the utilization of Gordon’s eleven functional health patterns, the patient was assessed to have syndromes such as anxiety during the preoperative phase, risk of injury and anxiety during the intraoperative phase, risk of infection, and pain during the postoperative phase. The patient was provided with an appropriate nursing care plan and intervention to meet his physical and mental needs, and to alleviate feelings of confusion, agitation and pressure. This was given through the guidance of the nurses' professional knowledge and skills in the operating room. This helped the patient undergo the operation in a comfortable environment, which led to an earlier recovery and regaining of his former quality of life. Consequently, this might serve as a reference for similar cases in the future. |
