The article discribed the nursing experience of a young patient with degenerative joint disease (DJD) of cervical spine who had recieved the surgery. During the caring period (January 2, 2003 ~January 18, 2003), the author applied Roy's adaptation model to determine the nursing problems including physiological and psychosocial aspects: pain,anxiety, knowledge deficit. The author used the unique and integrated nursing interventions to reduce the patient's physical discomfort, help the patient and his family face the challenge of DJD, and increase adaptation in order to improve the quality of life. It is hoped that the nursing experience will be reference for nursing colleagues in the future. |
