To investigate clinical psychologists’ practices and activities in Taiwan, we conducted a Taiwan Practice Survey of Clinical Psychologists. 158 clicensed clinical psychologists were invited to complete a questionnaire about their present clinical practices and activities. In this survey, over than half of participates (64.6%) have graduate degree. 70.1% of clinical psychologists work in hospitals or medical clinics. Most clinical psychologists (75%) had clinical experience less than 10 years. Only 43.6% of clinical psychologists held optimistic attitude toward their career. Clinical psychologists who practiced in hospitals or medical clinics have the lowest level of optimism toward their career mainly due to insufficient supervision and income. The main causes for leaving this career were poor income and professional burnout, and the main reasons for keeping this career were enjoyment of helping others and personal growth. The implications were discussed and summaried. |
