英文摘要 |
The purpose of this study was to explore the status, attitude, and satisfaction of the mobility aids utilization among the community-dwelling elderly. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study with correlation design. By systematic random sampling, one hundred and twenty 75 years or more subjects who were using mobility aids and residing in Kaohsiung County, were sampled. Data were collected by face-to-face interviews with structural questionnaires. Results indicated that there was a significantly positive correlation between the number of mobility aids use and the number of chronic diseases. A significantly negative correlation between the number of mobility aids use and the score of Barthel Index was observed. Significant predictors of attitude in using mobility aids included sex, educational level, number of chronic diseases, and the self-rating health status, which accounted for 25.9% of the total variance. Significant predictors of satisfaction of using mobility aids included sex, marital status, monthly income, educational level, and the self-rating health status, which accounted for 15.0% of the total variation. The results of this study can assist healthcare professionals in evaluating the needs of mobility aids among elderly so as to increase their functional ability. |
