This case study described a nursing experience of a 38 years old female cervical cancer patient, who had abdominal radical hysterectomy. The nursing care period was from May 8th to 20th in 2005. The Gordon’s functional health assessment was applied in the nursing evaluation. Data were collected by observations, interventions, and listening. Four major health problems were identified, including anxiety, pain after the operation, risk for infection after the operation, and body image disturbance chronologically. Through adequate nursing interventions with well nurse-patient relationship, the patient acquired a well-planned comprehensive nursing care to reduce the anxiety before surgery, to improve from pain, increase self-care to prevent infections and demonstrate a positive body image herself. |
