This case report described a nursing experience of a patient with choroid melanoma combining multiple metastasis, which induced hopelessness and body discomfort caused by cancer itself or treatment. During the caring period from January 14 to January 22, 2004, the observation, interview, interaction, and the Gordon 11-item Functional Health Pattern were used to assess the patient’s health problems. The findings included hopelessness, activity intolerance, and hyperthermia. The key point of nursing care was to help patient to adjust the goal of life and maintain physical and psychological comfort. Individualized and comprehensive nursing interventions were provided to improve his physical and psychological symptoms, and help him to adjust the process of disease. This report can serve as a reference for planning the nursing care for similar patients in the future. |
