One of the components of a successful surgical operation is professional involvement by nurses in the operating room. However, rapid procedure is the peculiarity that makes nurses feel pressure in the operating room. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with nurses’ job satisfaction in operating room. The subjects were 89 nurses who work in a medical center in southern Taiwan. The McCloskey / Mueller Satisfaction Scale (MMSS) translated by Tsai & Lin (2001) was used to measure job satisfaction. Data were analyzed using t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that nurses in operating room were the most statisfied with the scheduling and the least satisfied with the salary. Age, nursing ladder, position, working experiences, and salary were significantly associated with the job satisfaction. Nursing supervisors in operating rooms were advised to carefully evaluate those factors that were the least satisfied to improve nurses’ job satisfaction. |
