The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the care needs of mother with brain tumor child. A purposive sampling was employed to collected data through face to face interviews. Data were also collected through interviews with primary care nurse, participant observation, researcher's reflexive journals and medical charts. Eight mothers with brain tumor child who receive treatment in a Medical-Center Children's Hospital were enrolled into this study. Content analysis summary table by Miles and Huberman was used for data analysis. The study showed that the care needs of mother with brain tumor child were categorized as following: (1) the need of receiving medical-related information; (2) the need of adequate physiological need; (3) the need of maintaining psychosocial stability; (4) the need of social support; (5) the need of satisfying spiritual need; (6) the need of financial status; (7) the need of whether to tell the truth to the child. The findings of this study provided qualitative for nursing interventions that could enhance advanced care for brain tumor child and family. |
