It is time-consuming, but very important, to foster a professional curator to be knowledgeable in a specific field with aesthetic and skillful abilities. This paper examines the principles and standards of the United States educational policies and strategies. After reviewing the cultivation programs in the United States, it is suggested to establish the curriculum for the adaptability of art/design history, skillful craftsmanship, critical thinking, cross-media understanding as well as the ethics of curatorial field. We can ensure the quality of education will meet our needs with education standards. Besides the ability of appreciation and integration capability, seven suggestions are also provided in this study, including the establishment of framework, network flow, the integration of resources, the establishment of credibility, avoiding a mere formality internship, foster a win-win situation between museums/galleries and academia, and the appropriate adjustment of strategy setting. |
