This paper is focus on the visual communication design of the 40th Anniversary of the Ruling Expo in Taiwan. Research results indicate; (1) due to the immaturity of plate-making and printing technology, the design of lettering or graphics was less extravagant, and balance and block colors were maintained; (2) all symbols representing Japan or Taiwan image, such as the viceroy residence, temple, expo building or attraction, mountain, etc., were fully used in the design; (3) though the exposition was organized by the Japanese government, it represents an unique international exposition of Taiwan, therefore holding an important place in the history of visual communication design in Taiwan; and, (4) though most designers of the exposition were either Japanese or from Japanese institutions, the professionalism and attitude to work exhibited are worthy of modeling one's learning on. |
