臺灣區地圖之視覺符號調查研究——以單張式臺灣省縣市地圖為主

A Research On Visual Signs Of Taiwan Maps

本文的研究目的在於瞭解及比較，目前國內市面上所販賣的單張式半開版臺灣省縣市地圖的內容規劃和視覺符號設計的現況及差異。根據收集資料顯示，單張式地圖可分為臺灣省全圖、縣市地圖、鄉鎮地圖三類。本文的調查對象是依據臺灣省民政廳網站內的臺灣省地方概況圖來界定的，臺灣省內的主要縣市，共有5個省轄市、16個縣和2個不隸屬臺灣省政府管轄的直轄市。上述資料分別由大輿出版社、金蘋書局、經緯圖書公司、珊如圖書公司、國民旅遊出版社取得，其中以前三家出版書局的縣市資料最為齊全，但也因同一符號要同時出現在不同的圖面中，而導致符號本身或符號與地圖間產生了協調上問題。而且由資料中可以瞭解縣市地圖著重於觀光據點符號和機關符號的設計上，簡化的文字符號亦相繼出現，同時也能夠發現縣圖中出現為數不少的多餘符號，也就是說，部份符號設計較不切實際。

This study is based on the research on visual signs of Taiwan maps that are sold nowsday in Taiwan. Its purpose is to discuss and compare the differences of maps related to Taiwan Province, counties and citis, towns and villages, including visual signs and symbolic meanings. The maps of Taiwan Province are chiefly published by Da-Wu publisher, Golden Apple Books Ltd, and International Travel Ltd. Concerning the entire design, the first three publishers are similar in symbolic meanings, categories, shapes and colors; they even have the same defects. Also, the maps of counties and cities in Taiwan are mainly published by Da-Wu publisher, Golden Apple Books, prehistory Books Ltd, Sam-Su Books Ltd. and people Travel Ltd. The fiest three publishers provide the fullest information. But there are some problems with the signified meanings of sign themselves because of the display of the whole maps. Besides, simplified words frequently appear because the maps of counties and cities focus on the sign of scenic areas and institutions. A lot of visual signs, however, are unnecessary; that is, certain designs of certain visual signs are not available for use.
