As the teachers of the General Education Center of South Taiwan University of Technology understood that the general curriculum from the past could not comfortably meet students’ need and that other universities continued to seek new ways of doing things from old theories, they have been encouraging curriculum reformation and curriculum instruction design since 2008. It is hoped that curriculum reformation can be carried out in the use the curriculum and instruction design for general education by teachers in a professional manner, in harmony with students’ ability for the object of general education. In response to the crisis and challenge of the contemporary civilization, general education should be implemented to cultivate and refine aspects of humanity and to furnish a multitude of academic perspectives and methods. This article states the theory, the basis, and priority of reformation, with the expectation that moving on in the direction of professional education and with the efforts of educational specialists can encourage and promote the development of general education. |
