This present study applied methods of meta-analysis to analyze 59 studies from 1998 to 2010 inquiring the correlation between gender and internet addiction of elementary, junior high, senior high and college students. The results showed the correlation between gender and compulsive use, the correlation between gender and withdrawal, the correlation between gender and tolerance, the correlation between gender and time management problems, and the correlation between gender and interpersonal and health problems were significantly positive, meaning that male students’ internet addiction were higher than those of female students. Besides, because homogeneity tests of all topics were insignificant, there were no variations among gender differences in internet addiction. |
