Collaborative Imaginaries

古典人類學田野調查工作，為了要強化參與觀察的密度，往往長期在一個特定的地點如社群、鄰里區域或機構內進行。而正是拜這種研究上的主要風格所賜，才得以產生人類學獨特的民族誌知識。在全球化與地方和社會過程都發生顯著變化的當代，人類學的田野工作也面臨了新的挑戰：文化與社會過程的特質是流動性的、網絡式的、分散的。過去在社區內看似連貫一致、且可堪從事參與觀察的文化和社會單位，也呈現出支離破碎的現象。

This essays attemtps to articulate certain changes in the practice of ethnographic research necessitated by its changing conditions and circum－stances. I elaborate on the paradigm of multi－sited ethnography that I developed in the mid－1990s. Changing norms of collaborations effect the relationships that produce anthropological knowledge. The content and purpose ofthese relationships have to do with sharing imaginaries across lines of cultural and other kinds of difference. I sugest four dimentsions that empirically define the nature of such imaginaries that are shaped by processes of globalization.
