圖書館自動化之省思

The Reflection of Library Automation

圖書館自動化改變了圖書館服務型態，提供了諸多人工作業做不到的服務，實現了資源共享的理念。但在圖書館自動化過程中，圖書館行政立場及館員（特別是：系統採購者、資料處理管理者）在流通資訊認知上都有些值得省思與調適的地方。執事者更須特別關心各種細節，為圖書館做有利的選擇，俾能提供最佳的服務環境以滿足圖書館服務需求。從過去三十年圖書館自動化發展過程中，我們可瞭解各項工作重點，由於機讀書目(MARC)的使用，書目網路中心(BU)的成立與服務，轉建系統、整合系統的圖書館自動化系統的使用，乃逐步實現了圖書館自動化的實質效果。然而在此成功的進程中，我們似乎更應該佇足反省，再次探討：為何要自動化？自動化的走向、功能定位？有那些經驗值得分享？——回溯建檔的經驗、新舊兩系統轉換經驗的分享——由這些值得借鏡的經驗與應該避免的一些不必要走的路。將可提昇圖書館自動化的效益，也才可藉助圖書館自動化使人類的知識日新又新，由新資訊匯聚成新知識、新知識再產生新資訊，由此源源不斷地長流知識、產生新文明。

The developments of Library Automation Systems change the concepts of library service needs. Automated systems not only carry out many works that human beings are unable to do, but also fulfill dreams of resource sharing . To be a successful automated system consumer both library staff and administrative friends (Such as head of purchasing, data processing director, and head of telecommunications) should work together to figure out which one is the best for the library, not because the system is famous but because it is the best one to carry out the library service needs.While reviewing the developments of Library Automation and Networking, it shows that MARC, Bibliographic Utility, Turnkey system and Integrated system make libraries able to function automation. Therefore, while considering choosing one Library Automation System for a Library, both staff and administrative friends should discuss why automation, in what order to automate library functions, tips for doing retrospective, conversions, and etc. In this way, the negative impact of Library Automation will be reduced. And by the way of Library Automation, more and more knowledge are produced, processed and communicated.
