Fluoroscopy and interventional radiographic procedures are performed in growing numbers. However, the radiation dose in the procedures may be high enough to potentially induce the biological effects for both the patients and the interventional radiologists. To provide a guideline of radiation safety in fluoroscopy and interventional radiological procedures, this report was integrated according to some related important references, reports and training materials of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and was categorized into four major parts: fluoroscopic equipments, radiation protection, radiation biological effects and radiation safety in interventional radiology. In the last part, we summarize ten radiation safety strategies and five special notices in fluoroscopy and interventional radiology. The radiation safety strategies may serve as the reference for the staff involving in the fluoroscopic and interventional procedures. |
