The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of implementing a one-day evidence-based nursing (EBN) workshop on knowledge, attitudes, skills and critical thinking ability of the nurses. We used a one-group pretest-posttest design. Forty-seven subjects were recruited by convenient sampling from a regional hospital in south Taiwan. The structural questionnaires consist of knowledge, attitudes and skills on EBN, and a short form of the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory were applied as research instruments. EBN knowledge, skills and critical thinking ability were significantly promoted immediately after the workshop (p = 0.000). The attitudes toward EBN were improved but did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.052). Finding showed that the workshop could enable continuous learning in nurses and improve the EBN knowledge, skills and critical thinking ability. However, the effect of the workshop is temporary. We suggested that the development of EBN should combine with an integrated project and execute through forming habits of searching knowledge and evidence. |
