The vigorous development of global trade and international logistics increases the frequencies of economic activities across countries and promotes the demand for express mail service (EMS). Based on literature review and interview with experts, this study selected 16 measures within four dimensions for assessing the carrier selection of EMS in Taiwan. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was employed with a questionnaire survey from experts to establish an evaluation model to determine the weights of the measures. Using the choices of DHL, FedEx, and UPS as evaluation alternatives, the results showed that the dimension of 'speed and reliability' had highly importance which is twice larger than' carrier resources'. Furthermore, shippers, choices towards three carriers had shown little different, indicating that the operation and service quality of the carriers were homogenous. |
