The situation of private schools differs from that of public schools. With market accountability, private school principal leadership is an issue worthy of exploring. This study selects a private elementary and secondary school as a case study, collecting data through interviews, observations,and document analysis. The results mainly include the following. First,with abundant and complete leadership experience, the principal has the energy to continuously enhance her leadership ability. The school encounters the challenge and adversity of student recruitment, budget, teacher quality, and laws/regulations, produces the advantage for competition as well. Second, the principal has the determination to strive for goals, the sheer dedication so as to integrate intramural departments effectively,builds a high-efficiency administration and teaching staff, constructs a complete accountability system through performance-based teacher professional development evaluation, comprehensive teacher professional development,and flexible salary and premiums for teaching staff. Therefore,she has established comprehensive school accountability system, Third,to gain the high trust and support of the school’s board of directors and the recognition and satisfaction of teachers and parents, the principal has committed to building a diversified, safe, and well-organized academic setting, endeavoring to search for its own characteristics. |
