Outdoor recreation resource managers traditionally manage inputs and outputs, such as budgets and materials on the input side to serve recreation visitor days on the output side. As resources decline and demands increase into the next century, however, outdoor recreation opportunity will become an increasingly scarce resource and it will become more and more important for managers to invest their efforts efficiently in the production of outcomes, that is, in production of social and personal benefits that justify their investments. |
