This paper aims to explore and introduce the latest developments of cognitive anthropology. Refusing to see the human mind as a passive container of ideas, several cognitive anthropologists tend to give it a more active role in the study of human learning and cultural transmission. This paper introduces and discusses Richard Dawkin's cultural theory of meme, Dan Sperber's theory of cultural epidemics, also an important research trend and the concept of the study of human mind, domain specificity. It concludes with some personal comments on this development by the author. |
