Some theological seminaries in Taiwan are academically prestigious. But due to the government’s religion policy, the degrees issued by the schools are unaccredited by the Ministry of Education. However, the Taiwan President elected in 2000 made a new policy and the Ministry began to consider the necessity of accrediting the degrees. Unfortunately, the accreditation is not welcomed by the seminaries. They are worried that such a policy would infringe upon the sovereignty of the schools. In this paper, I examine the accreditation policy and try to find a solution that fits the specific need of the seminaries. |
