Objective: To investigate the correlation between serum uric acid level and different metabolic indexes.
Methods: A total of 1158 subjects who received health examination in the Hospital of Jiamusi University in China from 2014 to 2015 were enrolled in our study. Case-control study was carried out with a 1:2 matching ratio. Case group consisted of 386 hyperuricemia (HUA) patients (without gout) whereas control group consisted of 772 patients without gout and HUA.
Results: The univariate logistic regression analysis showed that there were 9 factors related to the occurrence of hyperuricemia (p<0.05) including 6 risk and 3 protective factors. These risk factors were increased alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), gamma-glutamyl transferas (GGT), triglycerides (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) and reduced high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). The protective factors were reduced low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), creatinine and increased urobilinogen. After multivariate logistic regression analysis, there were 3 risk and 2 protective factors related to the occurrence of HUA (p<0.05). These risk factors were increased GGT and TC and reduced HDL-C, and the protective factors were reduced LDL-C and increased urobilinogen.
Conclusion: The major risk factors associated with HUA were elevated GGT, TC and HDL-C and the major protective factors were reduced LDL-C and increased urobilinogen. |
