Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to gout. Findings So far, a large amount of studies about the prevalence of gout have been elucidated. The risk factors leading to gout mainly include hyperuricemia, genetic factors, dietary habits, alcohol, metabolic syndrome and drug use. Recently, it has been found that gout is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Conclusion Several epidemiologic studies from a diverse range of countries suggest that gout has increased in prevalence over the past few decades, making it the most common inflammatory arthritis, particularly among men. There is notable variation in the prevalence of gout in many respects. This article reviews recent insights into the epidemiology of gout. |
