Along with the expanding matters of social discontents and struggles in contemporary China, the problem of social stability becomes a central issue of academic study. So far, however, there is no systematic literature review on this subject, as the foundation of academic discussion and for the practical reform. This essay is a literature review of the modern Chinas social stability researches, including statistics, viewpoints and evaluations of the literatures. The viewpoints have been divided into five parts: definitions, judgments, factors, basis and strategies.
