After the abolishment of lawyer professions from 1957 to 1977 because of political circumstances, the lawyer profession have developed very fast since the Reform and Opening up , especially after the enactment of the Lawyer Law of the People’s Republic of China. However, achievement and hidden problems exist side by siede during this process. This article therefore aims to provide further research on the lawyer profession, how it has moved its way to a more professional career, what its achievements and concerns are. This article hopes to give more attention to the hidden problems of this profession, such as the entrenched favor toward administrative power, the still weak self－regulation, and attempt to give some suggestion for its future development. Moreover, the professional liability of lawyers will also be discussed, as it is an unavoidable part of a lawyer's career during his or her way toward professionalization. |
