The revitalization and adaptive reuse of historic spaces pose a challenge to the traditional social image embedded in time and space. These processes should not be seen merely as design techniques, but rather as elements that inspire energy and move people’s hearts. Every cultural asset holds unique significance within its specific region and historical period. Therefore, this article explores themes such as the revitalization and reuse of historic urban streets, sustainable urban renewal, and offers practical solutions through the application of long-term field research data. Over time, the Dihua Street area in Taipei has preserved much of its original character. More and more buildings have been maintained amidst the city’s evolving landscape. Currently, the vast majority of historic buildings have survived without a comprehensive protection framework. While preservation efforts in the past focused mainly on physical structures, future approaches should incorporate a holistic concept of preservation and reuse within heritage zones. |
