During the COVID-19 pandemic, medical technologists had to stand forward for the battle with the virus on the frontier. We developed a professional identity scale questionnaire to measure how medical technologists feel about their professional identity before and after the pandemic subjectively. The results show that professional identity is significantly enhanced after the pandemic. Furthermore, we discovered that medical technologists with more than 5 years of seniority, medical technologists recruited to the team because of the pandemic, and grassroots personnel had significant increases in professional identity. During this pandemic, medical technologists can increase their professional identity by“getting out of the routine work”and “participating and contributing to the team”. The elevated professional identity level could help medical technologists recognize their irreplaceable role in the health care system, furthermore, protect national health. |
