The Impact of COVID-19 on Medical Technologists’Professional Identity

近年受COVID-19影響，醫檢師也站在第一線對抗疫情。本研究發展一專業認同量表，請受測者回想疫情前與疫情後的主觀平均感受。分析問卷結果顯示疫情後醫檢師之專業認同顯著增加。依背景分群，發現五年以上資深醫檢師、受徵召加入團隊之醫檢師與職級較低之基層醫檢師等三類人員專業認同感顯著增加。在疫情下讓醫檢師透過「跳脫」及「參與」更認同自己的專業。提升專業認同能協助醫檢師了解自己在健康照護體系中不可或缺的貢獻與角色，進一步守護全民健康。

During the COVID-19 pandemic, medical technologists had to stand forward for the battle with the virus on the frontier. We developed a professional identity scale questionnaire to measure how medical technologists feel about their professional identity before and after the pandemic subjectively. The results show that professional identity is significantly enhanced after the pandemic. Furthermore, we discovered that medical technologists with more than 5 years of seniority, medical technologists recruited to the team because of the pandemic, and grassroots personnel had significant increases in professional identity. During this pandemic, medical technologists can increase their professional identity by“getting out of the routine work”and “participating and contributing to the team”. The elevated professional identity level could help medical technologists recognize their irreplaceable role in the health care system, furthermore, protect national health.
