The inmates voting right is an almost forgotten issue in Taiwan. In actual practice, due to legal norms, inmates cannot vote. The right to vote for inmates is no longer an issue in many countries, but it has taken a long time for legal reform to progress to a circumstance that inmates are allowed to vote. This article introduces the norms of related European human rights conventions and describes the cases of the European Court of Human Rights on the inmates voting right as well as the legal development of the inmates voting right in the United Kingdom and Germany. Finally, this article will analyze on the above administrative court judgment on the inmates voting right in Taiwan, and put forward legal and practical suggestions on the issue of the inmates voting right. |
