This study aims to investigate the differences between nominalized formal nouns "no" and "koto" within [V1 no wo V2] and [V1 koto wo V2] by adopting BCCWJ corpus database. The results are concluded in two aspects.
(1) In [V1 no wo V2], the typical semantic feature of [V1 no] can refer to one certain action and situation.
(2) In [V1 koto wo V2], the typical semantic feature of [V1 koto wo] can refer to a composition of several segments and an abstract concept of such composition.
