Taiwan government officially announced the 2050 net zero roadmap and ambition in March this year (2022). After such announcement, the legal response, ie., the Draft Climate Change Bill of 2022, to revise the existing Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Management Act of 2015 has been quickly adopted by the cabinet and submitted to be deliberated in the parliament within one month timeframe. The main purpose of this article is to investigate into the effectiveness of this Bill in helping Taiwan to achieving net zero emission. Special attention will be paid to evaluate whether such bill considers the needs of key novel emission reduction technologies on this 2050 roadmap. |
