Nowadays, the digital network platforms become the most important channel to communicate. The spread of misinformation and disinformation disperses while people gather and share information online. Hence, the government tries to response to the issue rapidly and efficiently before it infringes human rights or harms public welfare or public interests. However, it is argued that the government should not lead the online speech censorship of disinformation or misinformation. Specifically, the direct censorship of online speech or forced obligation to censor online speech by the government is more likely to violate the freedom of speech and press. In conclusion, it would be better to make the government be the supervisor and let digital network platforms self-regulate or cooperate with and be overseen by non-governmental organizations to solve the disinformation or misinformation issue. |
