Patient Safety Awareness Week is an annual event held in the third week of October that was first held in Taiwan in 2004. World Patient Safety Day is an annual event held on September 17 that was first announced in 2019 by the World Health Organization, in which healthcare organizations around the world are invited to participate in patient safety awareness events and act for patient safety. Joint Commission of Taiwan encourages healthcare organizations to use a variety of activities to promote Patient Safety Awareness Week among the public, medical personnel, and unit supervisors. They also encourage people to raise any concerns they may have about patient safety, enhance partnerships between doctors and patients, and promote a positive culture of patient safety. Hsinchu MacKay Memorial Hospital is dedicated to enhancing the concept of patient safety culture among medical colleagues, patients, and family members at its hospital, and actively promotes patient safety among its various departments. In this article, we introduce a variety of promotional activities conducted during Patient Safety Awareness Week and discuss how such activities have evolved over the past 2 years due to the pandemic. The information in this article can be used as a reference for healthcare organizations to improve their promotional strategies and enhance patient safety culture.
