To satisfy the requirement of Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) with the adaption of combined likelihood ratio (CLR) higher than 10000 in paternity testing, we evaluate the cost- effectiveness and clinical value of 24 short tandem repeat loci of Globalfiler Kit in paternity testing. 48 ambiguous paternity cases assessed by Identifiler Kit in 2013 including 32 duos with CLR<4000, 8 duos with exclusions <5 and 8 duos with point mutation were reanalyzed by Globalfiler Kit. By using the Globalfiler Kit, CLRs of 29 cases were elevated than 10000 (90.6%, 29/32), and 7 cases became excludable. Moreover, the CLRs of 8 duos with point mutation were increased significantly. Most importantly, 75% (36/48) cases meet the criteria by CLR >10000 and exclusions >5 in paternity testing. In conclusion, the turnaround could be shortened and the cost could be reduced in paternity testing by using the Globalfiler Kit. |
